Today we are reviewing the Priceline Rewards(TM) Visa® Credit Card.
The Priceline commercials with William Shatner are irresistible, and now, Priceline offers a credit card which may be hard to ignore as well, especially if you frequent the site for your travel bookings. As you plan your travels for the next year, you should take a moment to check out the Priceline Rewards ™ Visa® credit card.
Priceline.com is the website that helps users obtain discounts on travel related purchases for airline tickets, hotel rooms, rental cars and vacation packages.
Priceline Rewards ™ Visa® Card Essentials
This Visa card, issued by Barclays, is not high on the radar as it seems to be promoted strictly through the Priceline website. For anyone who wasn’t very excited about Priceline’s previous credit card, this new one just might get your attention.
Cash Back Rewards
On the rewards side, you can earn 2x points on all Priceline purchases and 5x points on purchases where you “Name Your Own Price. You will also 2x points on all of your other spending, which seems like a pretty good deal.
Priceline rewards points can be used for any past purchases of at least $25 (2,500 points). But, that includes all purchases you make, so it goes well beyond just being a Priceline rewards card.
You’ll earn a 5,000 point bonus worth $50 just for signing up.
Visa Signature Benefits
Being a Visa Signature Card, the Priceline Rewards Visa Card is loaded with all of the benefits Visa Signature offers, including
• Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver
• Travel accident insurance ($250,000)
• Roadside assistance
• Lost luggage reimbursement (up to $3,000)
• Travel emergency assistance
• Purchase security
• Warranty manager service
• Emergency card and cash replacement
So, if travel is your thing, and it should be if you go on Priceline.com a lot, this is the consummate travel credit card.
Since it’s a Visa Signature card, the FICO requirements could be somewhat high as it is only issued to people with very good to excellent credit. Yet, it’s not the best card for carrying balances with an APR range of 14.99% to 21.99%.
The one concern about this credit card is the issuer. Although Barclays has improved its customer service over time, they have been known to lag behind some of the top credit card companies in this very important category. The 5x points on Name Your Own Price seems rich, however, die hard Priceline users rarely use this feature. Still, at 2x points for all purchases, this is one of the better cash back cards around.
